Lectionary Reflection
Year A, Proper 5, Psalm
Psalm 50
For all the beasts of the forest
are mine, *
the herds in their thousands
upon the hills.
I know every bird in the sky,
*
and the creatures of the
fields are in my sight.
If I were hungry, I would not
tell you, *
for the whole world is
mine and all that is in it.
(Vs 10-12)
Reflection on Psalm 50
by the Rev Tom Harries
How could one include honor or concern for the natural environment in
a sermon for today? Once you bring up the question, you can probably spot
the opportunities as well as I.
In the Psalm verses, reflect on “The beasts of the forest are mine…”
