Humans interacting with 'this fragile Earth, our island home'

Welcome! We're glad you're planning on observing a Liturgical Season of Creation during the Season of Pentecost 2009. The focus for this series is on Humans Interacting with "this fragile Earth, our island home". Each of our topics looks at a different aspect of our relationship with our environment. We have prepared some materials for you to use in worship and in religious education.

The outline below and the individual links will point you to materials for preparing various parts of services for this Sunday. If you wish to see full list of materials for the Creation Season during the Season of Pentecost 2009 (Propers 22 through 25), click here.

RCL Readings for this Sunday:

Semi-Continuous Track
Old Testament (Hebrew Scripture) Reading: Job 42: 1-6, 10-17
Psalm Psalm 34: 1-8 (19-22)
New Testament Lesson
Hebrews 7: 23-28
Mark 10: 46-52
Creation Theme for this Sunday: Salvation comes when as humans we live most fully when we live sustainably in concert with the earth and are satisfied with its riches. We hear the pain we have caused the world, and seek to reconcile our mutual life rhythms.

For this Sunday we have two resource options. One follows the "Semi-Continuous Track" (based on the reading from Job), and the other follows the "Gospel Theme Track" (based on the reding from Jeremiah). Some of the resources cover both options. The information below pertains to the Semi-Continuous Track. If you are looking for the Gospel Theme Track readings, please click here.
