Creation Season 2012
October 7– October 28, 2012
(Proper 22 through Proper 25, Year B)

Proper 25, Year B
(October 28, 2012)

Humans Interacting/Reconciling with
'this fragile Earth, our island home'

Welcome! We're glad you're planning on observing a liturgical season of creation. We have prepared some materials for you to use in worship, teaching, and personal reflection.

The Collects below are available for you to use. You may

  • copy and paste from this page directly to your Service Bulletin or
  • download the Collect as part of a Bulletin Insert for your Service Bulletin.

Creation Collects for Proper 25, Year B:

In addition to the Collect for Proper 25, you might wish to use the following Collect of the Day (The kinship and unity of all creation in Christ), which was part of a Creation Lliturgy recommended to the 77th General Convention of The Episcopal Church (General Convention 2012 Blue Book, digital edition, p. 320):

God, maker of marvels,
you weave the planet and all its creatures together in kinship:
Your unifying love is revealed in the interdependence of relationships
in the complex world that you have made.
Save us from the illusion that humankind is separate and alone,
and join us in communion with all inhabitants of the universe.
through Jesus Christ, our Redeemer,
who topples the dividing walls,
and by the power of your Holy Spirit;
who live and reign with you forever and ever. Amen.

From Liturgies to Celebrate Creation

A new set of Collects was presented at the 77th General Convention of The Episcopal Church (2012). While they were not passed, a copy of the Collects as propposed in the General Convention Blue Book 2012 provide additional options.
