Humans Interacting/Reconciling with
'this fragile Earth, our island home'

Welcome! We're glad you're planning on observing a liturgical season of creation. We have prepared some materials for you to use in worship, teaching, and personal reflection.

The list of Prayers of the People below is designed to help you select prayers that can apply to the themes of this Sunday in Creation Season concerning humans interacting/reconciling with "this fragile Earth, our island home".

Prayers of the People for Proper 25, Year B:

New Zealand Prayer Book

Prayers of the People in the New Zealand Prayer Book tend to give somewhat more emphasis to creation than those in the Book of Common Prayer 1979. They are found on pages

  • 163 (Prayer #3, which begins "Let us be at peace within ourselves" is near the end of the link)
  • 413 (First Form of "Intercession and Thanksgiving", which begins "Heavenly Father, you have promised" is near the bottom of the link)
  • 416 (Second Form of "Intercession and Thanksgiving", which begins "God of heaven and earth" and follows the First Form but is not labled as Second Form)
  • 463 (Intercession and Thanksgiving, which begins "Caring God, we thank you for your gifts in creation")
  • 482 (Intercession and Thanksgiving, which begins "Blessed are you eternal God" and is about half way through the link)

The complete New Zealand Prayer Book is available online . If you plan to use any materials from the New Zealand Prayer Book, please read and follow the copyright instructions.

From Liturgies to Celebrate Creation

A new set of Collects was presented at the 77th General Convention of The Episcopal Church (2012). While they were not passed, a copy of the Collects as propposed in the General Convention Blue Book 2012 provide additional options.
